Yang Kyu throws himself into the Khitan army to rescue prisoners, fully aware that this might be his last battle. As expected, he and the remnants of his forces find themselves pitted against the Khitan army in overwhelming numbers. Meanwhile, Wang Sun receives news of the Khitan army’s retreat and hurries back to Gaegyeong. Witnessing the state of Gaegyeong, he falls to his knees in despair.
